Community-Led Action for the Planet We Share

Think Tree is an international, Swiss-based non-profit environmental organization dedicated to protecting the planet through reforestation, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable community empowerment. Although headquartered in Switzerland.

Think Tree operates through active local teams in Kenya and Uganda, and carries out additional projects in Tanzania and other parts of Africa. Our geographical focus is currently East Africa, but our mission extends to the entire global ecosystem.

OUR MISSION

Restoring ecosystems, empowering communities.

Think Tree was founded on December 19th, 2024, with a clear purpose: to combat climate change through large-scale tree planting, ecosystem restoration, environmental education, and community-centered sustainability. Each tree we plant is seen not only as a climate solution, but as a long-term resource for food, income, soil protection, biodiversity, and community resilience.

MORE ABOUT US

We combine ecological restoration with health, education, and community empowerment, fully adopting a One Health perspective: human health, animal health, and environmental health are interconnected.

WHY AFRICA?

East Africa is one of the regions most affected by climate change, deforestation, biodiversity

loss, and rural poverty. Planting a single tree here produces immediate, tangible benefits:

– Improved food security

– Income for families- Soil and water protection

– Habitat creation for endangered species

– Reduced human–wildlife conflict

– Long-term climate mitigation through carbon absorption

While our current focus is Africa, Think Tree’s long-term vision embraces a global approach to

ecosystem protection, sustainable development, and climate resilience.

– Headquarters: Switzerland

– Local Teams: Kenya (Kwale County), Uganda (Kigezi region)

– Projects: Also in Tanzania (Loliondo) and developing in other African countries

– Management Model:

Think Tree coordinates internationally from Switzerland and Kenya while empowering local

team leaders, schools, volunteers, and partner NGOs who implement daily fieldwork. This

ensures cultural relevance, transparency, and long-term sustainability.

What makes Think Tree unique is our long-term commitment to regions and communities. Many organizations plant trees and leave; Think Tree stays for years, ensuring:

– The trees survive and grow into real forests

– Communities adopt sustainable practices

– Schools continue environmental education

– Human–wildlife coexistence is improved

– Local economies benefit from nature-based solutions

Think Tree aims to:

– Build lasting forests across Africa

– Support endangered species through habitat restoration

– Reduce community vulnerability to famine

– Promote sustainable agriculture and agroforestry- Empower children through environmental education

– Create a global network of environmental leaders and volunteers

– Expand internationally while staying grounded in scientific, ecological, and community-centered principles

– Hundreds of trees planted directly through Think Tree and partner schools, around 850 trees.

– Collaborations with conservation organizations such as Wildlife Clubs of Uganda and Ezy Eco,

especially near gorilla habitats.

– Educational workshops in schools focused on climate change, biodiversity, and ecological

responsibility.

– Strengthening community resilience through tree-based solutions to food insecurity and

income instability.

Think Tree is not just a tree-planting group. It is a growing environmental movement built on science, sustainability, education, and compassion. Based in Switzerland with active African field teams, Think Tree is committed to restoring ecosystems, protecting biodiversity, and helping vulnerable communities build a healthier, greener, and more hopeful future.
